Royal courts justice 1On Friday 17th March 2023, Hatch End High School Year 10 Sociology students visited the Royal Courts of Justice, London.

Students were able to take part in a courtroom mock trial, where they got to experience being defendants, prosecutors, judges and members of the jury. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Year 10 student Safa Osman had this to say about the trip:

Visiting the Royal Courts of Justice was a highly memorable experience. The whole area of Farringdon, London was wonderfully maintained and very magical. When you arrived at the court itself, it truly resembled a castle from a fairytale!

Once we entered, security checked us in and we learned all about the court's history and the great people who battled there. Our encounter was made far more surreal by simply sitting in the seats that real prosecutors and Defence counsels had sat in. We couldn't have been more intrigued, and after our wonderful introduction, our case was underway. As the Prosecutor, I was enthusiastic and although I didn't win, I'm still glad I had the opportunity to participate.

One of my highlights of the trip was witnessing everyone on edge as the jury went to deliberate the case. It showed that everyone gave it their all and it really paid off.

We would like to thank Miss Asafu-Adjaye for planning this amazing trip, as well as Miss Modi and Miss Macaulay.
