Time Allocation

Parents will be able to see your child’s timetable on Arbor by accessing the Parent Portal online or the Parent App on a phone or other device, going to the student profile and looking at the calendar. Parents will also be able to download the timetable should they wish to print it or have an offline version of it. 

The Parents Portal will display the time, subject, and room for each of the lessons that a student has each day. To ensure that parents understand the codes that are associated with each class, here is a helpful guide to explain. 

• Year group: All class codes begin with the year group. For example, 7MSL/Ar is a year 7 art class 
• Subject: the letters after the forward slash always indicate the subject, which is also given in full on the Parent Portal. For example, 10A/Gg is a Geography class in year 10. 
• Bands: If a yeargroup is followed by the letter H or E it simply shows which half of the year the class is in. For example 10E/Pe1 is a PE class in the E half of year 10. 
• Classes in tutor groups in years 7, 8, and 9: In years 7, 8, and 9, many classes are taught in tutor groups, these are indicated by the tutor name coming after the year group. For example, 8MMH/Mu is the music class taught to the 8MMH tutor group. 
• Core subjects in years 7, 8, and 9: In years 7, 8, and 9 core (English, Maths, and Science) classes are indicated by the two letters after the year group. The first letter simply shows which half of the year students are in, H or E. The second letter indicates whether students are in an Extend group (E), Ambition (A), or a mixed group (C or R). For example, 9HC/Ma is a mixed (C) maths class in year 7 in the H half of the year. 
• Options subjects: In year 10 and 11, options classes have the block letter after the year group, but there are no sets. For example, 11B/Fn2 is the second Food class in block B, but the two groups are mixed, not set. 
• Sets: Other than core subjects in years 7-9, the only classes in sets at Hatch End High School are Maths and Science in year 10 and 11. In Maths the set is indicated by the final letter in the class name. For example, 11HE/MaE is the 5^th (E) Maths set in year 11. HE indicates both the H and E halves of the year together. In Science, 10E3/Bi would be the third Biology class in the E half of the year. English, RE, and PCSHE use the same naming system as science, but the classes are mixed and not set. 
• Everything else: all other classes are mixed and not set. Any letters other than the subject indicate the band or block of the class, not a set. Any numbers indicate multiple mixed classes, not sets. For example, 8E/Dt5 is the fifth Design and Technology class in the E half of year 8 but is not a set. 
• Sixth form: All previous points apply to years 7-11. In sixth form all classes are coded in one of only three ways: 
• By form e.g. 12AAR/Tu is the tutor class for 12AAR 
• By block e.g. 13E/Et is the English Literature class in block E in year 13 
• By applied subject e.g. 12BBT/Bs is the Business Btec class in year 12
