HIP Brunel University Trip
Posted on: 24/03/2023On Wednesday 22nd March, HIP students from Years 7 - 13 travelled to Brunel University in Uxbridge, to attend the Annual Disability Awareness Day.
The Brunel Wellbeing and Disability Team delivered an informative presentation about support available at the University. Students also learnt about ‘Disabled Student Allowance’ and how to apply, no matter what university you plan on joining. DSA is available to cover study-related costs a student may have due to a long-term illness, mental health condition, or other disability. This could include specialist equipment, BSL interpreters, or other support. Pupils also heard from Student Ambassadors who shared their experiences of their disabilities and life at the University.
After lunch, we had a tour of the University led by some Student Ambassadors. We saw the incredible facilities that Brunel has to offer, such as a state of the art Gym with climbing wall, indoor athletics centre, ceramics studio, as well as student halls.
Thank you to Mrs Hussein for organising the trip and helping students from our Hearing Impaired Provision (HIP) gain an insight into life at University!
