We have been recognised for our commitment to providing a high quality music education for all children and young people and are proud to be a Music Mark school.
Hatch End High School Choir
Hatch End choir performed at the Harrow Music Choir Showcase earlier in March at the Harrow Arts Centre. There were many school choirs from around the borough of Harrrow participating. It was a fantastic experience for our students and they very much enjoyed singing on stage to hundreds of people. They also experienced singing along with a stage full of primary and secondary students to complete the evening.
Year 10 Drama
Some of our Year 10 Drama students worked with Dead Poet’s Live to help them practice and film some of their content. The content was based around understanding and performing Shakespearean language and the footage will be used by the company to advertise their content and create lesson plans and resources for other schools to use with their students. The Year 10s showed real dedication and professionalism in the session and the company said Hatch End was their favourite school they had come to.
Year 10 have also been busy in lessons studying our set text, DNA by Dennis Kelly. As part of the final exam, students will have to come up with design concepts for costume, lighting and set for key extracts of the play. The students have been getting creative in making their own designs for locations within the play. This has been a lovely, practical way for students to understand the text and gain an understanding of a designers role within the theatre.
