Trips & Educational Visits

At Hatch End High School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through a wide range of trips, visits, and enrichment opportunities, we aim to develop well-rounded, confident, and ambitious young people. Educational visits provide students with the chance to broaden their horizons, experience new environments, and apply their learning in real-world contexts.

Research consistently highlights the positive impact of educational visits and enrichment activities. Studies have shown that well-planned educational visits can improve student engagement, develop confidence and resilience, strengthen relationships, and enhance academic progress when linked to curriculum learning. Residential and educational experiences have also been found to have a significant positive impact on students' self-efficacy, wellbeing, and attainment.

We are committed to providing students with a wide range of opportunities throughout their time at Hatch End High School. These include curriculum-based visits, residential experiences, university trips, cultural visits, careers-focused activities, and reward trips that celebrate students' academic achievement, excellent attendance, positive behaviour, and personal success.

The attached document outlines the trips currently planned for this academic year, including indicative costs and the year groups eligible to participate. Please note that this list is not exhaustive. Additional opportunities may arise throughout the year, and all trips remain subject to change or cancellation should there be insufficient interest or other unforeseen circumstances.

We are committed to ensuring that our educational visits are accessible to all students. Financial support and subsidies may be available for families whose children are in receipt of Targeted Free School Meals.

Some extra-curricular trips have limited spaces due to staffing ratios, venue restrictions, or transport capacity. Where this applies, it will be clearly communicated in all correspondence sent home. For oversubscribed trips, places are allocated through a random selection processand not on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment of a deposit does not guarantee a place on a trip. Following the published deposit deadline, families will be informed whether their child has been allocated a place. Students who are not allocated a place will receive a full refund of any deposit paid.

All trip payments, consent forms, and communications are managed through the Arbor Parent App. To view available trips, login to the Arbor parent app, select trips. Any trip for which your child is eligible will be displayed, you can then make a payment and consent within that trip
