Hatch End High School Welcomes MP Bob Blackman for Engaging Q&A Session
Posted on: 21/03/2025On Friday 21st March, Bob Blackman, the Conservative MP for Harrow East, visited Hatch End High School for a dynamic question-and-answer session with Year 12 Government and Politics students. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, from his role as a constituency MP to pressing foreign policy issues.
Students were particularly interested to learn about Mr Blackman’s extensive work tackling homelessness, as well as his success in passing multiple Private Members’ Bills into law. Additionally, he provided insights on key AS Level course topics, including his stance on the first-past-the-post electoral system and the relationship between Parliament and the Government.
Following the session, Mr. Blackman continued his day with meetings across Harrow, as Fridays are designated for Members of Parliament to focus on constituency matters.
Silviu S, a Year 12 student, reflected on the experience: “I was really delighted to get a short insight of what is like to be an MP, the tasks they carry out and how much of a role Mr Blackman plays for his constituency. I was also amused to find out that Mr Blackman has a penguin named after him at London Zoo.”
