World Book Day 2024

World Book Day 2024Hatch End High School celebrated World Book Day with a 'Decorate your Door' competition, with the Humanities Department laying down the gauntlet with a fine display of teacher creativity at the very start of the week, reflecting the eclectic intellectual tastes of historians, geographers and theologians.

Feeling the pressure as the designated top readers of the school, the English Department finally cranked into gear late on Wednesday afternoon and with the help of willing Sixth Form pupils, added texture and 3D design to the book choices.

A winner appeared (second place in the student polls) in the tissue paper depiction of Coraline on Ms Antoine’s door with a lot of shout-outs also going to Ms Mohammad’s graphic flames summoning the mood of The Hunger Games.

Amongst all this, some wonderful artistry popped up along far-flung corners of the T Corridor, delighting students with the sudden vision of creative and vibrant designs. The third-place winner appeared on the door of the Finance Team with their colourful depiction of The Witches.

However, the crème de la crème came from our true book specialist: Mrs Saiyeed, the Learning Resources Manager, who won the student vote with a clean sweep with her magical Snow White fairy tale doorway.

Well done to everyone that took part in this year's World Book Day 'Decorate your Door' competition, and we look forward to your creations next year!
