Student Artist of the Month

We've now had our first rotation within the Year 9 art curriculum and our Year 9s have been working hard to create a self-portrait and show their knowledge and understanding of different art movements. Our artist of the month this month is Yasmin Jadran who has produced a great self-portrait, well done Yasmin!

Kew Gardens Trip

On a rainy day at the start of October, the Year 10 Art and Photography groups set out to visit Kew Gardens and take as many high-quality pictures as possible for their 'Close-Up' project. Undeterred by train cancellations and the weather, students took lots of photographs and enjoyed the day.

"The trip to Kew Gardens helped me get photos to use during the lesson to help with my coursework. And was an enjoyable experience showing the more practical side of photography." - Jessica

"The trip to Kew gardens was very educational and helped me with my photography work." - Aysha

"The trip to Kew gardens really helped me out with different varieties of photos!" - Subhan

Art Club - School Show Set Design and Prop Making

Well done to those students that are attending art club, the numbers are growing and we're always on the lookout for more people that enjoy being creative. Currently we're in the early stages of creating designs for some accessories for the students to wear in the upcoming production of Joseph. Please pop along and join in. If you'd rather enter competitions just speak to us, we have plenty on offer.

DEAR Bookmark Design

Our Year 7 & 8 students are really embracing their reading as part of the 'Drop Everything And Read' tutor times and what better way to celebrate than to have each year group design their own bookmark!

Please see details on the poster below or pop into T22 and see Mrs McGarvey. Remember to complete your design on the template provided here.

For those unsure why reading is good for you, or just requiring a bit of inspiration, have a look here: 100 Unforgettable Quotes About Reading - Independent Book Review.

Juggling Club

Remember it's not just being creative that helps improve manual dexterity and hand eye co- ordination, juggling does too. Interested in learning a new skill or developing an existing one? Come along and have a go.
