Image001 (9)On Tuesday 31st January, Hatch End High School were delighted to welcome Steve and Logane from Gem Cable Solutions Ltd in Hertfordshire, to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week.

Steve told students his story about how him playing with wires as a child, then led to him becoming an Apprentice for British Aerospace and has now taken him to owning and running a company of 40 workers, which has been awarded contracts to provide wiring for spacecraft such as the Mars Rover and the clean-up operation at Fukushima Nuclear Power Station in Japan.

Steve said that skills such as determination, hard work, and believing in yourself are just as important as qualifications.

Logane is beginning a Graduate Apprenticeship Scheme at Gem Cable Solutions, after gaining her degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Hertfordshire University. Logane explained that working for a small business enabled her to gain a wide range of experiences and opportunities.

Thank you to both Steve and Logane for making space in your busy schedules to visit us and inspire our students; the sky really is the limit!
