Careers Business Breakfast Meeting
Posted on: 09/11/2022Our Careers' Business Breakfast Meetings are back! During today’s Business Breakfast meeting, five of our BTEC Business students (Diana, Suki, Risha, Glenn and Krish) were also in attendance.
This type of Business Meeting is a fantastic way for students to see how networking takes place and get involved, have encounters with various employers and is an excellent opportunity to ask pertinent questions.
The presentation today was by Chris Darby from DabHand Accounting, who explained how the government are introducing a plan to make tax digital and what this means for small businesses.
Making Tax Digital is a key part of the government’s plans to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get their tax right and keep on top of their affairs.
HMRC’s ambition is to become one of the most digitally advanced tax administrations in the world. Making Tax Digital is making fundamental changes to the way the tax system works – transforming tax administration so that it is:
· more effective
· more efficient
· easier for taxpayers to get their tax right
This will only increase the number of Accountants required to carry out the tax returns for businesses and it is predicted that by 2027, 31.5k new Accountants will be required.
Is this a career path for you? Which skills and subjects would be required to become an Accountant? Speak to your teacher or Careers Advisor.
