Media Studies: BFI Year 11 Study Day

Year 11s at the British Film Institute Year 11 GCSE Media Students visited the BFI for an exclusive study day recently as part of their preparation for the summer exam. The students listened to Media expert presenter, Rob Miller, who discussed the focus of their summer exam; TV News and News Websites. The students worked together to analyse a range of news broadcasts and news websites and were engaged throughout the day. The most exciting part of the day was when the students had a Q&A session with Head of Digital at Channel 4 News, Mike Deri Smith. They were able to ask insightful questions about Channel 4 news’ values and ideologies, how the web team work and what news stories have been the most interesting to report on. The students asked some good questions and even contributed some great points, related to media theorists and analysis.
