BBC School Report returns to Hatch End
Posted on: 20/03/2018Thursday, 15th March saw Media students from Year 9 taking part in the annual BBC School Report workshop. This national initiative by the BBC is a fantastic opportunity for the students to engage in important issues and current news stories. Once again, the technicians created a fantastic state-of-the-art studio for the students to get fully immersed in the journalistic experience.
Students from Year 9 Media worked with Miss Mohammad, Mr Adams and Miss Brown to research, script, film and edit their choice of news stories, as well as reporting on current affairs.
Some of their stories involved the negative impacts of drinking energy drinks, the impact of knife crime on young people in London and the rise of ‘fake’ news. Students were busy interviewing teachers and staff from across the school, sourcing images and creating graphics which contained their own quantitative data.
Students focused on their reports all day and the technicians worked around the clock to upload regular bulletins onto the school YouTube channel. The final edit of the bulletin will be available early next week.
