An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our strong and dynamic science team as a lead practitioner. This role is for one year in the first instance due to maternity cover. This would be an excellent opportunity for an outstanding teacher to share their good practice, gain experience leading whole school teaching and learning and develop leadership skills. The Science department is strong and well-led with good take-up at KS5. The science leadership team comprises a Head of Faculty, Heads of Chemistry, Biology & Physics, a BTEC lead, KS3 Co-ordinator and lead practitioner. Science is a hugely successful and popular subject at Hatch End High School at both Key Stage 4, offering both combined and separated sciences and at Key Stage 5 where we offer all three A-levels plus the BTEC Applied Science course. Hatch End has a growing team of lead practitioners leading teaching and learning whole school and this role would include delivering CPD and training staff to run masterclasses to achieve high quality teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of learning and achievement for all pupils.
The successful applicant will:
- be an outstanding classroom practitioner;
- have a good understanding of the current educational developments, especially those relating to classroom based practice;
- have the ability to lead whole school improvement;
- have an enthusiastic and positive approach within and beyond the classroom;
- be able to support colleagues to develop their practice.
