ART AND DESIGN
OUR VISION
We love the opportunity to be our own creative individuals, express our feelings and emotions and develop our knowledge of media and techniques. As a result, our overriding aim in the Art and Design department is to teach students the necessary skills & tools needed to be able to express themselves in various creative responses. They will learn to think and act as artists, crafts people & designers, working imaginatively and intelligently. Students will learn to use various tools and resources to develop and stretch their artistic skills and subject knowledge.

Enrichment
Our Art rooms are open during breaks, and before and after school, to allow students wishing to improve their skills, or who enjoy the subject, to work alongside targeted Gifted & Talented students. We are regularly involved in whole school events such as designing and creating decorations for the Senior Citizens’ party, school productions and other events such as Book Mark competitions in collaboration with the library. We also collaborate with other schools as much as possible and an example of this enrichment would be an Artist in residence project which we completed in collaboration with Shaftesbury High School and local primary schools.
