KCL WorkshopOn Tuesday 5th March, Hatch End High School Year 10, Year 11 and Sixth Form students had an exciting opportunity to participate in a university Medicine Workshop led by third-year students from Kings College London.

The workshop aimed to provide insights into studying medicine, the process and requirements, and a glimpse into the daily lives of these aspiring doctors.

During the workshop, students learnt about the rigorous journey of becoming a medical professional. The Kings College students shared their personal experiences, highlighting the dedication, hard work, and commitment required. They discussed academic requirements, the importance of work experience, and different pathways to pursue.

Our students also had the opportunity to take part in a captivating case study. They worked together in teams, analysing medical scenarios and applying their knowledge to diagnose and develop treatment plans.

This hands-on experience allowed pupils to sharpen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Year 12 student Umar said:

"The Medicine Workshop was a wonderful experience for me as a medicine enthusiast. It gave me information and strategies to apply to the most competitive medical schools and what it takes to become a successful doctor. The presenters were extremely helpful in answering questions and giving advice on how to be the most competitive applicant. At the end of the Workshop, they hosted a game on diagnosing patients which was really fun and informative on what a doctor actually does. I really enjoyed the workshop and would like to thank my teachers for giving me the opportunity to attend."
